LG Innotek announced on the 3rd that it signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology on the 2nd for joint development of technologies in new business fields and securing talented individuals.
Under the agreement, both sides will jointly develop future technologies in areas such as semiconductors, mobility, and robotics over the next three years. Key collaboration areas include the development of next-generation imaging devices, detection of fine defects in substrates, development of autonomous driving sensors, and the development of control technologies for robotic components.
Both sides plan to continue discovering additional development tasks and expand cooperation into the next-generation bio-health field.
LG Innotek intends to support scholarships for KAIST students participating in industry-academia projects by selecting them as industry-academia scholars, and will continue talent acquisition through recruitment connections.
Moon Hyuk-soo, CEO of LG Innotek, noted, "This collaboration will be a crucial driving force for LG Innotek to expand its business portfolio from mobile to semiconductors, mobility, and robotics."
Lee Kwang-hyung, president of KAIST, said, "I expect that by combining LG Innotek's rich global business experience with KAIST's world-class research capabilities, we will be able to achieve practical and groundbreaking research results that will lead future industries."
