SK Telecom plans to enhance its utilization and analysis expertise of market information based on AI technology by signing a memorandum of understanding with the raw material and logistics data provider "Kpler" on the 3rd.
The signing ceremony for the memorandum of understanding, held at the Lotte Hotel in Sogong-dong, Seoul, on the 2nd, was attended by Jean Maynier, co-founder of Kpler.
Kpler is a global data specialist that comprehensively provides trade-related information, helping corporations make efficient and accurate decisions. The company offers real-time insights into more than 40 markets, including crude oil, gas, dry bulk, cargo, electricity, and maritime through the MarineTraffic platform, assisting in making accurate decisions and optimizing operations while uncovering new opportunities in global trade.
With this partnership, SK Telecom expects to maximize synergy by combining Kpler's market expertise data into a multi-LLM (large language model) based AI agent and a data collection, processing, and integrated analysis platform. The plan is to support corporations' proactive decision-making based on precise information secured through data interconnection using MCP technology. SK Telecom is also planning to apply its own LLM "adot 4.0" in the future.
The partnership is accelerating SK Telecom's joint development of the "AI market intelligence" platform with SK C&C. The AI market intelligence service is an AI B2B service that enhances proven financial market analysis models to predict raw material trends such as LPG, LNG, and oil prices. The AI market intelligence platform is expected to provide AI models that support market forecasts across various industries, including energy, chemicals, semiconductors, and batteries.
The AI market intelligence, which is preparing for launch in the first half of this year, will first be provided to SK affiliates, then gradually expand the market to external clients.
An SK Telecom official noted, "Based on collaboration with Kpler, we anticipate significantly strengthening the performance of AI market intelligence related to the energy market and enhancing the competitiveness of each corporation by providing this information to SK affiliates."
Shin Yong-sik, head of SK Telecom's AIX division (vice president), said, "This memorandum of understanding with Kpler will serve as a turning point to elevate our market information analysis capabilities and insights," adding, "Based on this, we will enhance the completeness of the AI market intelligence platform, which is scheduled for release within the year, while exploring various business opportunities."
Jean Maynier, chairman of Kpler, expressed his excitement about the partnership, stating, "I have high expectations for collaborating with SK Telecom, a leader in AI services, and I hope that Kpler, with its unique capabilities in raw material and logistics analysis, can contribute to the SK Group's market intelligence and create more collaboration opportunities."
