“Not only refrigerators, but also washing machines and air conditioners can be controlled with a touchscreen that is connected to SmartThings (Samsung Electronics' Internet of Things platform). This year, the 'Knox Vault,' which securely stores personal information such as passwords and authentication details in a hardware security chip, has been applied for the first time in home appliances like robotic vacuum cleaners, enhancing security features.”

Moon Jong-seung, Vice President and head of the Development Team of Samsung Electronics' Digital Appliance (DA) division, said this on the 28th in Gwangjin-gu, Seoul, at the 'Welcome to Bespoke AI' event. On that day, Samsung Electronics unveiled new products and appliance solutions for implementing 'Artificial Intelligence (AI) Home.'

Samsung Electronics will expand the application of the touchscreen, which was previously applied only to refrigerators, to appliances like washing machines. Users can remotely monitor and control all appliances connected to SmartThings via the touchscreen. Additionally, the 'AI Home' touchscreen supports various network-connected devices such as Wi-Fi, Direct, and Matter Thread, allowing users to operate Internet of Things (IoT) devices without separate connection devices.

Samsung Electronics also introduced a 'Voice ID' feature in 'Bixby (AI voice assistant)' that distinguishes and recognizes family members' voices. When a user in front of the refrigerator says, “Bixby, tell me my schedule” or “Show me my photos,” it recognizes the user's voice and retrieves and displays the schedule and photos from the gallery. Furthermore, when the user says, “Bixby, find my phone,” the 'Find My Phone' feature rings the user's phone to indicate its location while providing various personalized services such as 'Accessibility Setting Synchronization,' which applies accessibility features set on the phone to appliances.

◇ “Enhancing voice assistant and touchscreen features”

The 'Bespoke AI Hybrid' refrigerator features 'AI hybrid cooling,' which operates with a compressor and semiconductor device simultaneously, equipped with a 9-inch screen, and expands its lineup from freestanding models to Kitchen Fit styles. The 9-inch screen installed in the refrigerator supports a dashboard form of 'Daily Board' where users can view their schedule, weather, and recommended diets at a glance.

The 2025 model all-in-one washing and drying machine 'Bespoke AI Combo' has a maximum washing capacity of 25 kg and a drying capacity of 18 kg. Improvements in the heat exchanger structure and preheating function allow washing and drying to be completed in just 79 minutes based on a quick course.

Samsung Electronics also showcased the 'Infinite AI Combo' washing and drying machine from the Infinite line, which is a premium appliance lineup featuring strong durability using materials such as aluminum, ceramic, and stainless steel. The 2025 'Infinite AI Combo' adopts a sleek flat design without protrusions with a 'Hidden Door' that opens with a touch and uses 'Real Art Steel' material that maintains the pure texture of metal.

The 2025 'Bespoke AI Jet' stick vacuum cleaner has a suction power of 400 watts and can be used for up to 100 minutes with a single battery in standard mode. The 2025 'Bespoke AI Steam' vacuum cleaner is equipped with self-motor technology, which increases suction power by more than twice compared to previous models. It can recognize not only opaque liquids but also transparent liquids using an 'RGB camera' and a 'Liquid Detection Sensor.'

'Bespoke AI Steam' features a 'Pop Out' function that uses a mop rotating at a maximum of 200 revolutions per minute (RPM) to clean stubborn stains and liquid contaminants and extends the brush and mop to clean corners or walls when detected. Additionally, an automatic water supply and drainage method has been applied, enhancing convenience.

◇ Security solution 'Knox' introduced in Wi-Fi-enabled appliances

Samsung Electronics explained that it is protecting users' personal information securely with its own security solution, 'Knox,' to minimize security concerns. This year, 'Knox Matrix,' which was previously supported only in Family Hub, will be introduced to all Wi-Fi-enabled home appliances. Knox Matrix is a solution based on blockchain that allows connected devices to mutually check their security status, and if an external threat is detected, it will disconnect the devices and immediately notify them to take action.

Samsung Electronics received the industry's first and most diamond ratings in the Internet of Things (IoT) security evaluation from the global certification company UL Solutions last year. The 'Bespoke AI Hybrid' refrigerator, released last month, also received a diamond rating, and plans to sequentially expand security certifications to the 2025 models to be launched in the future.

Vice President Moon Jong-seung addressed concerns over the absence of the head of Samsung Electronics' appliance division, stating, “We are proceeding with the specific direction and strategies established without any setbacks,” and added, “Employees in the appliance division are dedicated to innovation. We will strive to ensure that these results can translate into business outcomes.”
