On the 27th, LG Uplus announced that it will launch a 'Wi-Fi 7' router, supporting the 6 GHz band for the first time among domestic telecommunications companies, providing speeds over four times faster than existing rates.
The 'Wi-Fi 7' router, which will be released on the 28th, is a next-generation device equipped with fast speeds, uninterrupted stability, and enhanced security. The Wi-Fi 7 router implements a 320 MHz ultra-wideband channel and applies 4K-QAM (Quadrature Amplitude Modulation) technology to achieve speeds of up to 5.7 Gbps. This is more than four times faster than existing Wi-Fi 6 routers, allowing uninterrupted enjoyment from ultra-high-definition 8K streaming to cloud-based high-spec gaming.
The Wi-Fi 7 router provides an optimal network through multi-link technology (MLO) that simultaneously utilizes all frequency bands, including 2.4 GHz, 5 GHz, and 6 GHz. While existing Wi-Fi 6 could use only one frequency band at a time, this product connects multiple bands simultaneously, maintaining the best signal at all times.
Notably, the speed and stability were enhanced by utilizing the 6 GHz frequency band for the first time among domestic telecommunications companies. The 6 GHz band enables faster and more stable data transmission through a wider frequency bandwidth. Users with the latest premium smartphones (iPhone 16 or higher, Galaxy S25 series or higher) or laptops are expected to notice the performance difference of the Wi-Fi 7 router.
Along with fast speeds, security has also been strengthened. LG Uplus applies the latest security protocol, WPA3, and enhanced encryption technology to block hacking and password theft attempts. Additionally, by individually managing encryption sessions per device, it is designed to be used safely without concerns about personal data leakage even on public networks.
To provide an optimized network environment, LG Uplus offers the Wi-Fi 7 router in conjunction with high-speed internet products that provide 2.5 G speeds. Anyone signing up for the new 2.5 G high-speed internet can use the Wi-Fi 7 router without any additional expense.
Through the launch of this Wi-Fi 7 router, LG Uplus intends to set a new standard in the domestic network market and secure technological leadership in the global market as well. Furthermore, to respond to changing network access environments, it plans to continuously provide differentiated experiences to customers through network infrastructure innovation and AI-based Wi-Fi management solutions.
Oh In-ho, senior managing director of LG Uplus Home Business, said, “The Wi-Fi 7 router goes beyond simple speed improvement; it encompasses low latency and enhanced security, making it a next-generation network infrastructure. Through the router utilizing the 6 GHz band for the first time among domestic telecommunications companies, we will provide differentiated internet access experiences to customers seeking fast and secure networks.”
