On the 26th, Jo Joo-wan, CEO of LG Electronics, met with Satya Nadella, CEO of Microsoft, to discuss collaboration ranging from artificial intelligence (AI) solutions to data center fields.
On that day, Jo noted through social network services (SNS) that he reaffirmed the vision shared by both companies with Satya Nadella, adding they discussed the continued growth of their strategic partnership. He focused on three key aspects: updates on the joint development of the AI agent, data center collaboration, and LG's new journey in India.
Earlier, LG Electronics unveiled its collaboration with Microsoft at the world’s largest IT and electronics trade show, CES 2025, held in Las Vegas, USA, in January this year. The two companies planned to cooperate in the development and enhancement of LG Electronics' mobile AI home hub, the 'AI agent' (project name Q9). They intend to expand the scope of their AI-related partnerships, which have been conducted on individual product units, to include AI homes, mobility, and commercial sectors for 'holistic experience implementation.' Furthermore, LG Electronics agreed to collaborate on essential technologies such as thermal management and chillers, which are key for the next-generation AI data centers being built by Microsoft.
The meeting aimed to specify collaboration related to the AI agent and data centers. Also present were Kim Dong-myung, president of LG Energy Solution, and Hyun Shin-kyun, president of LG CNS. At this meeting, LG proposed a collaboration plan that combines LG Energy Solution's battery solutions with LG CNS's data center design and operational capabilities concerning AI data center cooperation.
Jo stated, 'LG Electronics has agreed to provide cooling solutions for Microsoft’s data centers,' noting that extensive possibilities regarding building energy management systems, LG Energy Solution's uninterruptible power supply, and LG CNS's excellent operational excellence were also discussed.
Regarding the AI agent, he said, 'Today we introduced the LG Q9 powered by Azure OpenAI and Bing Search,' adding, 'This partnership will bring us closer to realizing a zero labor home.'
