Satya Nadella, the chief executive officer (CEO) of Microsoft (MS), visited South Korea for the first time in two years to meet with business leaders and startup officials to discuss collaboration in the field of artificial intelligence (AI).
According to the information technology (IT) industry on the 25th, Nadella arrived at Seoul Airport on that day. This visit is meant to attend the 'MS AI Tour,' where he will present the AI technology strategy and vision on the 26th. The 'MS AI Tour' will take place at the Yangjae AT Center in Seocho-gu, Seoul, under the theme 'AI for everyone,' and he will deliver a keynote speech titled 'Leading Change in the Era of AI Innovation.'
Nadella met with Suh Kyung-bae, chairman of Amorepacific Corporation, at a location in Seoul. Also present were executives, including Kim Seung-hwan, the representative of Amorepacific Corporation. Reports indicate that both sides exchanged views on utilizing AI technology within the beauty industry.
Nadella is also reported to have met with Kim Young-seop, CEO of KT, and Chung Ji-sun, vice chairman of HD Hyundai, at the KT Gwanghwamun building. CEO Kim exchanged opinions with Nadella on enhancing the Korean-style AI model that both companies are collaborating on and the public sector business through secure public clouds.
KT and MS have agreed to jointly invest 2.4 trillion won over five years. They plan to launch the public secure cloud domestically in the second quarter.
Nadella also met with Choi Yong-ho, the representative of Galaxy Corporation, which represents G-Dragon. They discussed collaboration in the entertainment technology industry, including producing artist music videos using OpenAI's video generation model 'Sora.'
Galaxy Corporation, which G-Dragon is associated with as an artist, is promoting a solo concert for G-Dragon at 'Sphere' in Las Vegas, USA, next year. They plan to explore global expansion in the entertainment technology industry by combining AI with artist performances in collaboration with MS.
On the 26th, Nadella is scheduled to discuss collaboration with representatives from domestic startups, including wrtn, Upstage, Liner, and Masspresso. Additionally, he has meetings scheduled with LG Electronics CEO Jo Joowon and Kang Seok-hoon, chairman of the Industrial Bank of Korea.
