Lyoo Geung-seon Kakao Mobility CEO.

Ryu Geung-seon, the CEO of Kakao Mobility, will serve another one-year term.

Kakao Mobility announced on the 25th that all major agenda items, including the approval of financial statements and the reappointment of CEO Ryu, were passed at the 8th regular shareholders' meeting held at the Kakao AI Campus in Yongin, Gyeonggi Province. CEO Ryu, who joined Kakao Mobility in 2018, became a co-CEO in 2019 and has been the sole CEO since 2020. The term for the CEO of Kakao Mobility is initially 2 years, followed by a one-year renewal.

Kakao Mobility cited the rise in performance, expansion into technology-based platforms such as autonomous driving and robot delivery, and efforts for industry cooperation as the background for CEO Ryu's reappointment. Kakao Mobility noted, "(CEO Ryu) has been faithfully implementing the agreements for mutual growth through meetings with the taxi industry since his reappointment last year," adding that it seems they judged him to be the right person to establish a sustainable growth foundation and lead responsible management in the future.

Recently, Kakao Mobility has been under investigation by prosecutors due to allegations of call monopolization and inflated sales. In this regard, some analysts suggest that CEO Ryu's reappointment indicates that Kakao Mobility has chosen the continuity and stability of its business.

Meanwhile, Kakao Mobility appointed the head of the Big Impact Team under the Mobile Kakao CA Council Strategy Committee as an outside director.
