On the 24th, the Seoul YMCA announced that it had submitted a report requesting an investigation to the Fair Trade Commission, claiming that Apple's advertisements regarding the AI features of its iPhone 16 series constitute false and exaggerated advertising.
On the 13th, the Seoul YMCA noted that Apple hid the delay in the release of the AI features of the iPhone 16 while advertising it, and called for consumer compensation measures.
Currently, a week later, the Seoul YMCA pointed out that no compensation measures have been established and urged the Fair Trade Commission to conduct a thorough investigation and report to the prosecution. Apple announced the 'Apple Intelligence' system, which includes the on-device AI Siri feature, at last year's Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC), but failed to apply this feature to iOS 18 as planned, postponing its release until after next year. Subsequently, Apple removed the advertisements for the feature from YouTube.
The Seoul YMCA argued that it is highly likely that Apple was aware of the postponement of the feature release before the advertisements were deleted. The Seoul YMCA stated, 'We will closely monitor the investigation process and continue follow-up responses' and added, 'We plan to maintain monitoring of businesses that cause consumer harm.'
