KT announced on the 20th that it has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Korea Electric Power Corporation and Seoul National University to develop and validate artificial intelligence (AI) specialized for the power industry. The signing ceremony was attended by KT President Kim Young-seob, Korea Electric Power Corporation President Kim Dong-cheol, and Seoul National University President Yoo Hong-rim.

The cooperation includes the development of a hybrid cloud-based AI solution specialized for the power industry and the validation of security systems, the discovery of new business models that combine power and AI, joint research and development (R&D), and training of personnel from industry, academia, and research corporations, as well as support for innovative corporations. In particular, AI solutions utilizing hybrid cloud technology will provide the foundation for reforming power systems and are expected to securely protect sensitive data through strengthened security systems. Furthermore, there are plans to collaborate with innovative ventures and startups to develop AI-specialized energy solution business models and seek entry into overseas markets.

Kim Young-seob, president of KT, said, "We will combine the capabilities of the three organizations to spread AI transformation (AX) in the public sector and lead the acceleration of AX in other industries while supporting the AX of the national power industry."
