We can perform all the tasks we used to do with artificial intelligence (AI) at one-tenth the expense.
On the 19th (local time), at the 'Adobe Summit 2025' held at the Venetian Convention Center in Las Vegas, United States, Jamie Dimon, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of JPMorgan Chase said this. During the discussion, Shantanu Narayen, CEO of Adobe, posed a broad range of questions about the changes that AI will bring and the outlook for the global economy, and Dimon shared his views on these topics.
Dimon emphasized that "executives must simultaneously understand the market situation and the state of the company," noting that "timely judgment is key to not missing the golden time for innovation."
He further assessed the recent global economy, stating, "Although the U.S. economy has been on the rise since COVID-19, the possibility of tight fiscal policy and reduced consumption is increasing," and added, "If various risks, such as the Russia-Ukraine war, Middle East situations, and tariff issues overlap, consumer expenditure could decrease."
When Narayen mentioned that "AI is bringing innovation not only in finance but also in everyday life," Dimon replied, "Various technologies, such as machine learning, generative AI, and agent AI, are being applied in corporations, and this is making it possible to drastically reduce expenses while increasing productivity."
He predicted that "when the vast data sets can be analyzed quickly to find what customers desire, corporations that make data-driven decisions well, regardless of industry, will secure a competitive advantage."
In particular, Dimon stated, "When AI technology becomes widespread, tasks we have done until now can be handled with far less expense and time," adding that "this will have a ripple effect similar to the explosive innovation that the steam engine brought to the transportation industry."
Narayen also noted, "I understand that JPMorgan pays a lot of attention to social responsibilities, such as urban reconstruction," and continued with his questions. Dimon responded, "Supporting cities and communities is a natural responsibility for a global financial firm, and I want to help create an environment where everyone can access financial services and secure housing."
