Samsung Electronics and Harman announced on the 18th that they will join forces with CJ CGV to build a next-generation artificial intelligence (AI) cinema.
On the 17th, Samsung Electronics, Harman, and CJ CGV signed a strategic memorandum of understanding (MOU) at the CGV Yongsan I-Park Mall in Seoul for the 'Construction of a Next-Generation Cinema Through AI Cinema Innovation.'
CJ CGV's next-generation cinema features Samsung Electronics' Cinema LED screen 'Onyx' and Harman's customer and space tailored sound solutions. Additionally, Samsung Electronics' various air conditioning devices, such as system air conditioners and air purifiers, as well as the ultra-low power display 'Samsung Color e-paper' to replace paper posters will be applied.
The environment and equipment in the screening room will be integrated and controlled through Samsung Electronics' AI B2B (business-to-business) solution 'SmartThings Pro.' The next-generation cinema is expected to operate as a pilot in two selected screening rooms and then expand into premium CGV locations domestically and internationally.
Jeong Jong-min, CEO of CJ CGV, noted, 'The next-generation cinema applying advanced technologies from Samsung Electronics and Harman will set a new standard for movie viewing for customers.'
Lim Sung-taek, Vice President of Samsung Electronics Korea, said, 'I expect that 'SmartThings Pro' will provide customers with a new movie viewing experience.'
Amar Subhasis, Vice President of Harman Asia Pacific and India, said, 'We plan to expand Harman's advanced sound experiences in various entertainment spaces in the future.'
