Seoul YMCA explained on the 13th that it plans to consider filing a complaint with the prosecutor's office if Apple does not prepare compensation measures for its false and exaggerated advertisements regarding artificial intelligence (AI) features.

Apple announced its AI system 'Apple Intelligence,' which includes on-device AI Siri features, at the annual Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) in June last year. According to the announcement, the improved Siri, which should have been applied in iOS 18, has had its release postponed to after next year, and Apple has removed ads for this feature from YouTube.

Seoul YMCA claimed that Apple likely sold iPhones while concealing the fact that the release would be delayed even before the ads were deleted.

Seoul YMCA stated, 'The advertisement for Apple Intelligence and the resulting iPhone sales amount to profit obtained through false and exaggerated advertising.' They noted that while there was much controversy over the domestic pricing of the iPhone 16e, many domestic consumers likely endured the relatively high price, finding comfort in the fact that Apple Intelligence would be applied.

They also revealed plans to request an investigation by the Fair Trade Commission and urge a complaint against Apple if adequate compensation is not provided for the product sales through false and exaggerated advertising.
