KT announced on the 12th that it has renewed and opened the 'K-Data Insight Platform,' which utilizes communication big data and artificial intelligence (AI) analysis technology to precisely analyze and estimate population flow and characteristics by region.
The K-Data Insight Platform is an advancement of the 'KT BigSight' platform's 'Lifestyle Population Analysis Solution' that KT has been operating since 2017. Previously, only surface-level data analysis of active areas was possible, but this platform comprehensively analyzes people's living locations, purposes of movement, and modes of transportation at different times using AI technology.
The K-Data Insight Platform offers a total of four types of data. This includes 'Lifestyle Movement Data' analyzing purposes and modes of transportation by starting and ending points; 'Lifestyle Population' analyzing the population present at specific times and places; 'Floating Population' analyzing the population movement allowing duplication at specific times and places; and 'Resident Population' analyzing the population that has stayed in a city or district for a certain period.
Additionally, this platform is characterized by its excellent precision and flexibility, providing detailed spatial data at a 50m cell unit, responsive grid offers (flexibly changing to 50m, 250m, 500m, and 1km according to map scaling), geographic information system (GIS)-based spatial information visualization analysis, time series analysis, real-time dynamic change analysis, and comparison analysis features for a maximum of four regions.
Recognized for the excellence of such data technology, KT participated in a private data joint purchase project hosted by the Gyeonggi Provincial Government on the 27th of last month. Through this project, it provides core services such as lifestyle movement data, four data types of lifestyle, floating, and resident populations, and lifestyle movement analysis solution (PLIP). The Gyeonggi Provincial Government and 11 cities and counties including Suwon, Yongin, Hwaseong, Ansan, Anyang, Siheung, Gwangmyeong, Gwacheon, Icheon, Hanam, and Pocheon will be able to improve urban space and transportation infrastructure and detect declining population areas early to respond.
Kim Young-geol, Deputy Minister of KT's Service Product Headquarters, noted, "The renewed K-Data Insight Platform is an important milestone in accelerating data-driven administrative strategies," adding, "In the future, KT will strengthen the linkage with AI agents to more effectively support policy and strategy formulation in the areas of transportation, safety, environment, dwellings, and tourism, and contribute to optimizing marketing strategies and analyzing commercial districts for corporations."
