LG CNS announced on the 10th that it has established the AX partnership with global artificial intelligence (AI) corporation Cohere, becoming the first in South Korea to do so and aiming to seize the domestic agentic AI market.
LG CNS will jointly develop customized agentic AI services for domestic corporations with Cohere. Agentic AI is a technology that autonomously establishes, executes, and evaluates plans and solves complex problems, going beyond the existing generative AI that simply provides answers. For example, while existing financial AI chatbots provided answers based on learned data when requested to recommend insurance products, agentic AI can autonomously solve problems, such as searching for additional information and coordinating meeting schedules with responsible parties.
Cohere is a Canadian-based AI unicorn founded in 2019 by AI researchers from Google. It was founded by CEO Aidan Gomez, who is a co-author of the paper on the core technology of large language models (LLM), the Transformer. Cohere possesses AI models grounded in data security and has attracted investments from global corporations such as NVIDIA, Oracle, and Cisco, with its current corporate value reaching approximately 8 trillion won.
LG CNS plans to customize Cohere's agentic AI solution 'North' to fit the domestic environment and provide it in an on-premises format. Additionally, it aims to jointly develop a Korean and finance-specialized agent model and expand into various industries, starting with finance and subsequently into manufacturing and distribution services.
Jin Yo-han, head of the AI center at LG CNS, noted, "We are honored to establish the first and exclusive partnership in South Korea with Cohere, a top global AI corporation," adding, "LG CNS will lead the agentic AI market in earnest."
Meanwhile, Cohere CEO Aidan Gomez attended the 'AX Seminar' hosted by LG CNS and said, "Starting with Korean financial corporations, we will provide agentic AI services in various industrial sectors in collaboration with LG CNS."
