Devsisters' development studio OvenGames announced on the 10th that Cookie Run: OvenBreak successfully concluded the 'Global Invitational' and revealed its esports annual roadmap.
This tournament featured a total of eight top-level players invited from four regions: Korea, Taiwan, Thailand, and Indonesia, and took place over two days on the 8th and 9th. The first day consisted of a singles tournament, while the second day featured regional competitions with players forming teams from the same region.
In the individual competition, unpredictable matches continued from the quarterfinals. Strong favorites, Korea's 'Kim Geon-woo' and Indonesia's 'GOJEK vanness', were eliminated in the quarterfinals. In the semifinals, Taiwan's 'MaiMai' and 'FireSpirit' advanced to the finals after defeating Thailand's 'SickDuck' and 'Boxygen', respectively. In the final match between the representatives from Taiwan, 'MaiMai' secured the championship by winning 3 out of 5 matches.
The regional competition was held in a format where each regional team faced each other once. After fierce battles, the Taiwan and Thailand teams advanced to the finals, mirroring the semifinals of the individual tournament. In a best-of-five match, Taiwan won 3-2 and claimed the championship.
Meanwhile, Cookie Run: OvenBreak took its first step into esports last year with 'CooRimpic 2024'. This year, it plans to expand into tournaments involving players from around the world, starting with the Global Invitational, and has released a corresponding roadmap.
First, qualifiers will be selected in the Grand Champions League mode within the game in May and July. Aggregating scores from the two matches, eight players will progress from each of the four regions: mountains, sea, grasslands, and desert, totaling 32 players. Afterward, the final eight will be selected through regional online qualifiers in September, and these players will compete in the finals of 'CooRimpic 2025' in October.
