SK hynix announced on the 6th that it will transition its CMOS image sensor (CIS) institutional sector to the artificial intelligence (AI) memory field.
On the same day, SK hynix held a communication event for members of the CIS institutional sector and noted, "To solidify our position as a global AI-centered corporation, we will transition the capabilities of the CIS institutional sector to the AI memory field."
It added that the "CIS institutional sector has achieved significant results since its launch in 2007 by overcoming various challenges and entering the mobile market," and "from here, we gained logic semiconductor technology and custom business capabilities that cannot be experienced through memory alone."
It continued, "The company is at a major turning point to become a key player in the AI industry," adding, "The technologies and experience held by the CIS institutional sector are essential to strengthen AI memory competitiveness, which is why we made this decision to consolidate the capabilities of the entire company."
SK hynix plans to support individuals from the existing CIS institutional sector in fully demonstrating their professional capabilities as they transition to the new organization.
