The Korea Software Industry Association (KOSA) announced on the 6th that it has opened a channel for feedback on subordinate legislation for the 'Basic Law on Artificial Intelligence Development and Trust-Based Establishment (AI Basic Law).'

The AI Basic Law still has follow-up legislative tasks remaining until its enactment on Jan. 22 next year. In particular, the concept of high-impact AI and the obligations of AI corporations are major issues.

KOSA noted that it supports reflecting the opinions of various stakeholders, including corporations that develop and provide AI models and civic organizations, into policies to promote safety and industrial development.

In particular, it will express opinions on ▲the obligation to ensure AI transparency ▲the obligation to ensure AI safety ▲the criteria and responsibilities of high-impact AI ▲AI impact assessments, among others, regarding AI ethics and reliability. Additionally, a separate channel for gathering opinions on ▲AI governance ▲AI talent and industry development policies has also been established.

KOSA stated that it will convey stakeholders' opinions to the authorities of legislation and policy, including the 'AI Basic Law Subordinate Legislation Revision Team.'
