Samsung Electronics' audio and automotive (vehicle electronic and electrical equipment) subsidiary Harman is changing its leadership for the first time in five years.

According to industry sources on the 4th, Harman recently held a board meeting and appointed Christian Sobotta, president of Harman's automotive division, as the new chief executive officer (CEO).

Sobotta, who came from automotive parts manufacturer Robert Bosch, has amassed over 25 years of experience in the global automotive industry. He joined Harman in January 2021 and has been leading the automotive business.

Sobotta said, "It is an honor to take on the role of CEO of Harman, and I will work with a talented team to drive growth and continue to deliver exceptional value to our customers and partners."

Harman is a company acquired by Samsung Electronics for $8 billion (approximately 9.34 trillion won at the time of the exchange rate) in 2017 to strengthen its automotive business, playing a key role in driving Samsung Electronics' performance with last year's sales of 14.3 trillion won and operating profit of 1.3 trillion won.
