LG Uplus and Google, along with Google Cloud, announced a comprehensive cooperation plan to enhance artificial intelligence (AI) competitiveness at the Mobile World Congress 2025 held in Barcelona, Spain, on 3rd (local time).

The event was attended by Hong Beom-sik, president of LG Uplus, Matt Renner, global head of sales at Google Cloud, and Karen Teo, head of platform and device partnerships for Google Asia-Pacific (APAC), among other key officials from both companies.

Through this collaboration, LG Uplus plans to expand the functionalities of its AI service 'Exio' by utilizing Google Cloud and the AI model 'Gemini.' The call agent service Exio aims to refine the analysis of conversation context using Gemini and enhance features such as tailored summaries of calls and suggested actions based on specific situations.

Exio plans to introduce a service that enables immediate search of objects, situations, and locations relevant to call content by utilizing Google's 'Vertex AI.' To improve search quality, Exio is actively considering the introduction of the 'Grounding with Google Search' feature.

Additionally, LG Uplus plans to expand the service range of Exio by leveraging AI technology provided by Google Cloud. The strategy involves developing various AI-based services using Google's generative AI, including multimodal AI, and applying them to Exio.

Alongside service refinement, both companies will jointly explore Exio's global expansion. By engaging in comprehensive collaboration in the AI field, Exio aims not only to enhance the quality of existing features such as call recording, summarization, and voice phishing prevention but also to evolve into 'Actionable AI' that understands users and suggests tailored actions.

Starting with this collaboration, LG Uplus and Google plan to continuously exchange technology to enhance the competitiveness of AI-based services and secure differentiated AI technology. Google also agreed to expand cooperation in various areas to support LG Uplus's AI Transformation (AX) strategy by examining the introduction of AI in homes, digital channels, and work processes.

Hong Beom-sik, president of LG Uplus, said, "Through collaboration with Google, we will present differentiated services that add convenience to AI that customers can use with confidence and aim to enter the global market. In the future, LG Uplus will lead the AI ecosystem that dominates the global market by collaborating with various global corporations."

Matt Renner, global head of sales at Google Cloud, noted, "I am pleased to collaborate with LG Uplus, which is leading AI innovation. Through our collaboration, we can further enhance the capabilities of LG Uplus's AI agents by implementing a robust Gemini in Vertex AI and improve employee productivity while providing Exio users with a smoother and superior mobile device experience."
