Kim Tae-kyu, the vice chairperson of the Korea Communications Commission, met with Federal Communications Commission (FCC) Chairperson Brendan Carr on the 3rd (local time) at the Mobile World Congress 2025 (MWC 2025) venue.
On that day, Vice Chairperson Kim congratulated the inauguration of the second Trump administration and the appointment of Chairperson Carr, expressing hope that South Korea and the United States would develop a strong alliance based on liberal democracy.
In response, Chairperson Carr expressed hope that the partnership between the two countries would be further strengthened, noting the need to establish a legal system for user protection regarding the emerging topic of artificial intelligence (AI) technology. Furthermore, Vice Chairperson Kim mentioned that Jin-sook Lee, the Chairperson of the Korea Communications Commission, hopes to meet with Chairperson Carr during her visit to the United States.
Chairperson Carr also responded that he looks forward to meeting with Chairperson Lee, expressing his intention to attend an international event in the field of information and communication technology (ICT) to be held in South Korea.
