Minister Yoo Sang-im visited the site of the 'Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2025' in Barcelona, Spain, on the 3rd (local time) and emphasized the need for public-private cooperation during a meeting with Hong Beom-sik, president of LG Uplus.
Minister Yoo met with President Hong for 20 minutes starting at 9:10 a.m. in the LG Uplus meeting room. During the meeting, Minister Yoo stressed the importance of cooperation between the government and corporations in the context of intensifying global technological competition.
Minister Yoo noted, "Given the current severe circumstances, public and private sectors must cooperate to overcome the crisis." President Hong explained that LG Uplus's AI agent "Exio" will be further advanced based on Google's next-generation large language model "Gemini." He added, "The most important thing for consumers is security," and that "implementing artificial intelligence (AI) technology that assures customers is the main goal."
Minister Yoo plans to attend MWC 2025 from March 3 to 6 to support Korean ICT corporations' entry into global markets while seeking cooperation with global telecommunications and network companies.
On the first day of the event, Minister Yoo will visit the booths of major telecommunications corporations, including Samsung Electronics, SK Telecom, KT, and LG Uplus, and share the latest technological trends with the chief executive officers of the three telecommunications companies.
