The Ministry of Science and ICT announced that Minister Yoo Sang-im will attend the world's largest mobile exhibition, the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2025, held in Barcelona, Spain, on the 2nd (local time). This marks the first visit by the Minister to the MWC event in three years.
It is expected that more than 2,000 corporations from around the world will participate in MWC 2025, showcasing next-generation communication technologies such as 5G+ and 6G, as well as mobile and network equipment integrated with artificial intelligence (AI) technology.
On the opening day of the event, the 3rd, Minister Yoo will start by visiting the Korean startups and small and medium-sized enterprises booth, followed by visiting the booths of the three major telecommunications companies, including Samsung Electronics, SK Telecom, and LG Uplus, and plans to meet with the CEOs of each company.
The Minister also plans to meet with GSMA Secretary General Vivek Badrinath to discuss international cooperation agendas and sign a memorandum of understanding (MOU) for the commercialization cooperation of 5G+ and 6G mobile telecommunications.
On the 4th, the second day of the event, he will visit booths of global telecommunications corporations such as Ericsson, Nokia, and Huawei, attend policy forums and meetings with heads of relevant organizations, and discuss policy directions to gain an edge in the next-generation network competition.
Minister Yoo noted, "The Ministry of Science and ICT will devote its efforts to investing in next-generation network infrastructure and research and development, and will do its best to ensure smooth international cooperation for the overseas expansion of domestic digital corporations."
