Suprema announced on the 28th that it has launched an artificial intelligence (AI)-based smart school integrated security solution. As the demand for enhanced security in schools rises, the company plans to provide a system that utilizes AI-based access control and video analysis technologies to integrate functions such as visitor pre-registration, access management, and abnormal behavior detection.
While a visitor pre-registration system is being introduced, centered around some education offices, there are criticisms that it is not linked to access control and security systems, limiting effective management. Furthermore, there are situations where responses to abnormal behavior or emergencies that could occur on campus are not smooth, highlighting the need for improvements.
Suprema's smart school integrated security solution is designed to operate access control, visitor management, classroom attendance management, and anomaly detection functions as a single system. This allows for pre-management of visitor entry, automates attendance processing per classroom, and provides the ability to detect intrusions, loitering, fights, and possession of weapons. Additionally, real-time monitoring is possible, supporting quicker responses in case of emergencies.
This solution incorporates an AI algorithm that won the best innovation award at CES 2025. The algorithm can be integrated with existing security devices like CCTV and is designed to detect abnormal behaviors such as loitering and violence, as well as the possession of firearms and weapons. It also includes features for attendance checking by timetable, access management per classroom, and management of attendance data by student, in conjunction with the academic management system.
Choi Jong-kyu, Deputy Minister of Suprema's domestic business division, noted, "As discussions on strengthening school security continue, there is a need for an integrated solution that provides various functions such as access control and abnormal behavior detection," adding, "We plan to support more efficient security and operational management through this system."
