Kakao Entertainment and the Kakao Creation Foundation announced on the 28th that they will support creators to enhance the domestic cultural content industry this year.
The Kakao Creation Foundation will expand and strengthen its support programs this year to encompass webtoons, web novels, music, and video fields. The foundation aims to provide broader support for domestic creators while effectively integrating Kakao Entertainment’s creators with business know-how and networks to support creators in ways that offer the most practical assistance.
So far, the Kakao Creation Foundation has conducted various support programs for webtoon and web novel creators, along with supporting the 'Live Club Day' performance stage for indie bands. This year, the foundation plans to further strengthen existing programs while expanding support areas and establishing new programs by field.
First, the 'Online Creation Academy' and 'Grow Up Talk & Talk' seminars, previously held for prospective webtoon and web novel creators, will be expanded to include the music and video fields. Plans are also in place to double the number of 'Creation Space Support' targets for webtoon and web novel creators from the existing 21 teams. Additionally, a new program called 'Grow Up Creation Camp' will be held, where Kakao Entertainment webtoon and web novel producers and KakaoPage and KakaoWebtoon authors collaborate with prospective creators, while new programs in the music and video fields are also being prepared.
As part of this, the first 'Grow Up Talk & Talk' of the year will be held today at Dream Plus Gangnam, targeting 100 prospective webtoon and web novel creators. 'Grow Up Talk & Talk' is a free offline professional lecture featuring active authors, open to all interested in the cultural content industry, including prospective creators. Starting in February of last year, 'Grow Up Talk & Talk' involved 15 popular authors, including Lee Jong-beom, Kim Ro-ah, and Sanji Jikson, with 500 participants.
This 6th session consists of three lectures in the webtoon and web novel fields: ▲ 'My husband was definitely a Paladin' by Baek Seol-hong on '10-Year Full-Time Author's Serialization Techniques and Tips', ▲ 'Hello, Veterinarian!' by Seo Geon-joo on 'How to Start as an Author: Modern Fantasy', and ▲ 'The Boss’s Special Orders' by Park Han-na on 'Living as a Storyboard Artist: From Novel Comics to Creation'.
Kwon Gi-soo, co-CEO of Kakao Entertainment, said, 'As a corporation representing cultural content, we plan to support many prospective creators in Korea across the music, story, and media fields together with the Kakao Creation Foundation,' adding, 'We will strive to contribute to the promotion and activation of the cultural content industry as a creative hub through the Kakao Creation Foundation.'
