Samsung Electronics and LG Electronics announced on the 27th that they produced award-winning entries including gold medals at the International Forum 'iF Design Award 2025' in Germany.
The 'iF Design Award', which began in 1953 under the auspices of the International Forum in Germany, selects award-winning entries by evaluating distinctions and impacts across a total of nine institutional sectors, including product and package design, user experience (UX) and interface (UI), concepts, communication, and service design.
Samsung Electronics produced a total of 58 award-winning entries, including two gold medals.
Samsung Electronics won gold medals for the home AI companion robot 'Ballie' and the package design 'BOJAGI' of a small portable projector.
Including these, they received awards in 36 entries in the product sector, 8 in the UX/UI sector, 9 in the concept sector, 4 in the communication sector, and 1 in the service design sector, totaling 58 awards.
'Ballie', which won the gold medal, is a home AI companion robot that learns users' lifestyle patterns based on artificial intelligence (AI) and performs various functions such as schedule management and appliance control.
The other gold medal-winning entry 'BOJAGI' is a concept package for a small portable projector, inspired by the traditional Korean tool called bojang, completed with a design that utilizes scrap fabric.
In addition to the gold medals, Samsung Electronics also produced excellent design award-winning entries. The all-in-one washing and drying machine 'Bespoke AI Combo', which can wash and dry laundry simultaneously without moving the laundry, the ultra-compact wearable 'Galaxy Ring' that supports AI features for easy health management, and the 'Neo QLED 8K (QN900D)' that enhances immersion with 'infinite air design' making the screen seem to float in the air were among the successful recipients of awards.
LG Electronics received a total of 36 awards, including a gold medal.
This year, LG Electronics won a gold medal for the 'LG Signature OLED T', the world's first wireless transparent TV. The 'LG Signature OLED T' is an OLED TV with a transparent screen, which can switch between 'black screen' and 'transparent screen' modes with just a remote control and is equipped with wireless AV transmission and reception technology, allowing installation free from spatial constraints.
Additionally, LG Electronics received 27 awards in the product design sector. Award-winning entries included the smart home hub 'LG AI Home', the mobile smart home hub that interacts with customers called 'LG Smart Home AI Agent', the premium LCD TV 'QNED TV' that enhances screen immersion with its slim design, the 'LG Stanbyme 2' which allows easy separation of the screen from the stand for flexible use, and the 'LG Signature Smart InstaView' that allows checking inside the refrigerator without opening the door using transparent OLED technology.
