Ericsson Korea Partners (Ericsson Korea) has appointed Dr. Sibel Tombaz as the new Chief Executive Officer (CEO), as announced on the 27th. Dr. Sibel Tombaz is scheduled to take office on April 1.
Dr. Tombaz oversaw the cloud and Radio Access Network (RAN) portfolio at the Ericsson headquarters in Sweden. Since joining Ericsson in 2014, she has gained extensive experience in various fields, including 5G innovation, product strategy, and energy-efficient network solutions. Notably, she played a key role in developing the Ericsson Spectrum Sharing solution, which won the prestigious Global Mobile Awards in the ICT field in 2020. Ericsson Spectrum Sharing is a solution that supports 5G NR in existing 4G frequency bands, enabling faster and more efficient transitions to 5G.
Dr. Tombaz has worked to provide the highest quality of service to clients, including telecom companies, optimize Total Cost of Ownership (TCO), and improve revenue. This network is expected to have a positive impact not only on clients but also on the advancement of the ICT industry. Dr. Tombaz holds a Ph.D. in communication systems from the Royal Institute of Technology (KTH) in Sweden.
