Purplecity, which operates an artificial intelligence (AI)-based search engine, announced that it will launch its own web browser.
On the 25th, Purplecity noted through its official X account that it is recruiting users for the web browser "Comet." The specific release schedule, mobile app launch status, user interface (UI), and other details were not disclosed.
By visiting the Comet official site, users can register for the waiting list by entering their email. Purplecity stated that it will compile the waiting list weekly and provide Comet access permissions as soon as possible.
Purplecity began its AI-based search engine service in December 2022. It garnered attention for collecting information through web searches and providing it, unlike OpenAI's ChatGPT at that time. As of March of last year, the number of monthly active users surpassed 15 million.
Two years after launching its search engine service, Purplecity has entered the web browser market. If a web browser is built in-house, Comet can also set the Purplecity search engine as its homepage.
Representatives from Purplecity conveyed their aspirations to international IT media such as TechCrunch, stating, "Just as Purplecity has redefined search, we will also recreate the browser."
