SK Telecom announced on the 24th that it will unveil AI innovation ideas and technologies in collaboration with the K-AI Alliance, a coalition of AI innovation companies from South Korea, at the Mobile World Congress 2025 (MWC25), which will take place in Barcelona, Spain, from March 3rd (local time) for four days.
SK Telecom expects that this MWC25 will be a significant turning point for the K-AI Alliance to lead innovation in South Korea's AI ecosystem and accelerate its expansion into global markets.
The K-AI Alliance participating in MWC25 consists of a total of seven corporations, and the members will showcase their AI services, solutions, and technologies, as well as introduce their current operational AI business models, application cases, and future business strategies. Additionally, they plan to hold meetings with overseas corporations participating in the MWC to create tangible global results.
To create more collaboration opportunities with AI startups last year, SK Telecom opened its alliance to become an open alliance based on sharing, cooperation, and participation. The alliance, currently comprising 25 members, aims to continuously expand its reach and establish itself as the representative coalition of AI startups in South Korea, while revitalizing the domestic AI ecosystem and leading a joint entry into global markets.
SK Telecom will set up separate exhibition spaces in Hall 3 and Hall 8.1, introducing the collaborative stories of the K-AI Alliance, which is driving AI innovation and collaboration in various fields such as manufacturing, robotics, advertising, and healthcare.
In the SK Telecom exhibition hall located in Hall 3, companies such as Moloco, Rebellions, Lablup, and TwelveLabs will be presented, while in the 4 Years From Now (4YFN) exhibition in Hall 8.1, TUAT, XL8, and Nota, which joined the K-AI Alliance through SK Telecom's AI startup growth support program, will showcase their solutions and accelerate their entry into the global market.
Moloco is a machine learning-based advertising solutions company that, in collaboration with SK Telecom, launched the AI-based integrated advertising platform ASUM 2.0 last June and plans to expand its service scope globally. Rebellions is an AI semiconductor startup that completed a merger with Sapeon Korea last December and plans to actively target the global AI data center market with its AI semiconductors Atom and Libel in Saudi Arabia, Japan, and the United States.
Lablup is an AI infrastructure platform company that provides the Backend.AI platform, contributing to the commercialization and proliferation of AI technology. TwelveLabs is a startup developing multimodal AI models for video understanding, and last year, SK Telecom invested $3 million in TwelveLabs.
TUAT, participating in the 4YFN exhibition hall, developed the AI-based visual assistance voice guide app "Sullivan Plus" and won the GSMA Global Mobile Awards in 2022 and 2024. XL8 is a startup providing media translation solutions and real-time AI interpretation services, having utilized its self-developed AI interpretation subtitle service "EventCAT" for real-time interpretation of events at the recent SK AI Summit. Nota is a company developing on-device generative AI and AI optimization solutions that developed power-saving technology for on-device AI in collaboration with SK Telecom last year.
Ryu Young-sang, CEO of SK Telecom, said, "This MWC25 is an important opportunity to showcase South Korea's AI startups on the global stage," adding, "SK Telecom plans to support the K-AI Alliance in leading AI innovation in the global market."
