Devsisters announced on the 24th that they plan to officially launch the trading card game (hereafter TCG) 'Cookie Run: Braveverse' in the United States on July 11.
The challenge of 'Cookie Run: Braveverse' is significant as it marks the first physical TCG based on a Korean intellectual property (IP) entering the U.S. market, which is considered the home of TCG. Furthermore, the fact that over 4.9 million booster packs have been distributed to date and that the game has been validated in popularity and playability in Asian markets, including Korea, while attempting to expand into Western markets is also positive.
Market research firm Zion Market Research previously analyzed that the global TCG market size would exceed $6.39 billion (approximately 9 trillion won) in 2022. It noted that North America holds nearly half of the market share and is expected to maintain a dominant position until 2030. This is also a region where Devsisters has steadily built recognition for the IP, having successfully targeted the U.S. market with the mobile RPG 'Cookie Run: Kingdom' in 2021.
Local distribution will be handled by ACD Distribution LLC, which has managed sales of popular TCGs and gaming products such as Disney Lorcana, Yu-Gi-Oh!, and Pokémon for over 30 years, during which they have secured extensive distribution infrastructure and know-how.
The two companies will participate in the global TCG and board game trade fair 'GAMA Expo,' held from the 23rd to the 27th in local time, as the first step for Cookie Run: Braveverse's entry into the U.S. market. This business event will see a large number of local card retailers and sales representatives in attendance, as they operate an exclusive booth for Cookie Run: Braveverse and plan to carry out hands-on experiences and seminars to establish market awareness and networks.
In addition, in May, ACD Distribution will actively engage with stakeholders through an expo they will host, aiming to secure a smooth local supply chain across the United States.
Meanwhile, Cookie Run: Braveverse is a TCG based on the Cookie Run IP, which has more than 200 million cumulative users worldwide, characterized by casual yet strategic gameplay that includes unexpected twists. Since its first domestic launch in September 2023, it has expanded into Taiwan in February and five Southeast Asian countries in December last year, and is actively extending its reach to the U.S. this year.
