SK Telecom announced on the 23rd that it will showcase innovative future AI technology at the 'MWC 2025 (Mobile World Congress 2025)', which will open in Barcelona, Spain, on March 3 (local time).

SK Telecom will create a large exhibition space of 992㎡ (approximately 300 pyeong) in the heart of Hall 3 at the MWC 25 venue, Fira Gran Via. Under the theme 'Innovative AI, Accelerating the Future', SK Telecom and its partners plan to captivate the global ICT industry with their differentiated technological expertise.

SK Telecom will introduce innovative AI capabilities that can be practically utilized in industries, including AI data center solutions, robotic autonomy, and global video content localization support technology, enhancing its telecommunication services and infrastructure with AI. It will also share AI governance principles introduced to ensure the reliability and safety of AI with the global telecom industry.

Under the 'AI Infra Super Highway' strategy announced last year, SK Telecom is discovering various AI data center (AI DC) technologies and building competitive business models through cooperation with SK Group member companies and global partners.

At MWC 25, the company will unveil all related technologies and services encompassing energy, operations, AI memory, and security, which are key components of its AI DC solution business.

SK Telecom will showcase technologies for optimal control of power supply needed for AI DC operation from distributed power sources, various liquid cooling methods to reduce heat generation in data centers, and technologies that increase stability by insulating energy storage systems (ESS) with liquid.

The exhibition will also include technologies for efficiently operating complex facilities, such as GPU resource management solutions based on virtualization and real-time monitoring technology for data center infrastructure using digital twin technology.

SK Telecom will also introduce security technologies for AI DC that have been proactively developed. 'AIDC SecureEdge' applies a zero-trust model known for its strong verification advantages, comprehensively protecting everything from internal AI DC data to devices, applications, and personal information while blocking remote hacking attempts.

A space highlighting AI semiconductor technology from SK Group will also be established. Advanced products, including SK hynix's high-bandwidth memory HBM3E and high-performance SSD storage for data centers, as well as SKC's glass substrates and technologies related to Rebelion's AI inference specialized NPU, in which SK Telecom has strategically invested, will be showcased.

SK Telecom will reveal research results for the evolution of AI-based communication infrastructure at this year's MWC 25, suggesting ways for communication networks to evolve to simultaneously implement communication services and AI inference.

At the SK Telecom exhibition, the concept of 'AI Base Station (AI-RAN)' will be introduced, which enables both communication and AI services by applying various chipsets, including GPUs, to base station equipment. Additionally, 'AI Routing' technology will be presented to ensure optimal inference performance for devices equipped with large language models (LLMs) in the cloud and small language models (SLMs), alongside 'AI Orchestration' solutions for optimal control of complexly consolidated mobile communication facilities.

The 'Telco AI Agent', which accurately responds to various customer requests such as plan inquiries and changes by combining communication-specialized LLM models, can flexibly integrate with existing systems to rapidly establish services without requiring changes to infrastructure.

By combining LLMs with retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) technology to transition internal operational knowledge into databases, the 'Infrastructure Assistant' will provide necessary information to operators in a chatbot format, reducing the time spent searching through complex manuals and systematically organizing and disseminating the know-how of skilled operators.

SK Telecom has prominently designated a space in its exhibition to announce the introduction of its own AI governance principle 'T.H.E. AI (by Telco, for Humanity, with Ethics AI)'.

SK Telecom has integrated 'T.H.E. AI', which was unveiled last year, throughout its management to ensure reliability and stability across the entire AI business. It also obtained international standard certification for the 'AI Management System' jointly established by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) and the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC), becoming the first telecom company in the country to do so.

Meanwhile, SK Telecom will collaborate with 15 domestic innovative startups at 4YFN (4 Years From Now), the startup event of MWC, setting up an exhibition space and showcasing collaborative projects. Participating startups will present their cooperation cases with SK Telecom under the theme 'Do The Good AI with Startups'.

Ryu Young-sang, alongside other SK Telecom executives, plans to continue meetings with global leading companies at this MWC, spearheading private-sector ICT diplomacy. Various areas of collaboration, such as AI data centers and AI-based communication technologies, are anticipated to draw attention at the SK Group level.

Ryu Young-sang stated, “We plan to reveal various technologies of SK Telecom that rapidly prepare for the evolution direction of the AI industry, announcing to the world how we generate tangible results with our own technological capabilities and global partnerships.”
