The Smilegate Orange Planet Foundation announced on the 21st that it successfully held the '3rd Busan University Student Game Developer Camp' at its Busan Center on the 20th.
This camp was conducted to develop the skills of aspiring developers in the Busan area and to identify and support outstanding talent early. About 100 students from local schools, including Dongsuh, Dongmyeong, Dong-eui, Yeongsan, and Busan Yale Vocational School, participated, all of whom are interested in employment and entrepreneurship in the game industry.
Orange Planet organized the camp with lectures and mentoring from representatives of game development companies under its incubation and exhibitions from student game teams. Hyunwoo Kang, CEO of NextStage, gave a lecture on the status of AI-based game development under the theme 'Utilizing Artificial Intelligence (AI) and the necessary development skills for university student developers.' Following that, the Busan Information Industry Promotion Agency and the Busan Game Association each held sessions to provide information on support projects for aspiring developers and excellent game development companies in the region.
For the 1:1 mentoring on game development (planning, graphic, programming), companies like NextStage, the developer of 'Ultra Age,' and Zombie Mate, the developer of 'Nyanspa,' participated along with representatives from local game companies and Orange Planet. A total of eight student teams participated in the game exhibition, showcasing their created games and receiving various feedback from camp participants.
In the future, the Orange Planet Busan Center plans to conduct development camps during the summer and winter vacation periods to enhance the development skills of university students in Busan. Additionally, the 'Busan Game Developer Conference' will be held in March, and the Busan-Ulsan-Gyeongnam region's game developer exhibition 'Build 051' will be held in June.
Seosang Bong, the head of Orange Planet, noted, 'We will continue to support student development teams so they can grow into student entrepreneurship teams,' and added, 'We will collaborate with universities in the Busan region to discover and cultivate promising university student developers, contributing to the revitalization of the local game ecosystem.'
