Apple unveiled the budget model "iPhone 16e," completing the iPhone 16 lineup.
On the 19th (local time), Tim Cook, Apple Chief Executive Officer (CEO), noted, "The iPhone 16e is a model with performance and intelligence, helping more people experience Apple intelligence."
The iPhone 16e is the first budget model released in three years since the launch of the iPhone SE3 in 2022, named as part of the new "e" series instead of "iPhone SE4." Key specifications include △A18 chip △8GB RAM △storage capacities ranging from 128GB to 512GB △6.1-inch OLED display △Apple-designed 5G modem C1 chip △USB-C port, among others. The existing home button has been removed, and Face ID and an action button have been added. Additionally, it supports satellite consolidation, enabling access to emergency services.
The launch price is $599 (approximately 860,000 won), which is $200 (approximately 280,000 won) cheaper than the basic iPhone 16 model ($799), but an increase of $170 (approximately 240,000 won) compared to the previous budget model ($429).
South Korea is included in the first batch of launch countries, with pre-orders starting on the 21st and official sales beginning on the 28th. However, support for Apple intelligence in Korean is expected to be available starting in April.
