Chinese animation "Ninja 2" has topped the global animation box office.

According to Reuters and others on the 18th (local time), "Ninja 2" recorded a total of $1.699 billion (approximately 2.45 trillion won) in box office revenue, surpassing "Inside Out 2" ($1.698 billion).

Released during the Lunar New Year holiday period, "Ninja 2" earned more than 99% of its total revenue in China and has recently started showing in overseas markets such as the United States and Canada.

The film is a modern reinterpretation of the hero "Ninja" from Chinese mythology and is a sequel to the 2019 hit "Ninja: Birth of a Rebel." It has received praise for its special effects and action direction, sparking a wave of repeat viewings among Chinese audiences.

The director Yang Yu, a medical school graduate, has successfully ventured into animation.
