Naver and Kakao will join The Federation of Korean Industries (FKI).

According to the information and communication technology (ICT) industry on the 18th, FKI plans to hold a general meeting on the 20th to approve the agenda for new member corporations. It is reported that the companies applying for membership this time include Naver, Kakao, HYBE, and gaming companies.

In the past, FKI has sent love calls for membership to IT corporations such as Naver and Kakao. The predecessor of FKI, the Korea Enterprises Federation, sent an official request for membership in 2023, but the two companies considered membership while conducting internal reviews. The reason for the two corporations joining FKI this time is the increasing need for collaboration with companies in the rapidly changing global AI market.

A Naver official noted, “The industry trend is changing to AI, and there are aspects where business leaders need to move together in line with the second term of the Trump administration in the U.S.”
