Google's advanced artificial intelligence (AI) assistant project "ASTK" is expected to be applied to the Galaxy S25 upon its completion. "ASTK" is a project designed to enable Google's AI model Gemini to possess audiovisual functions and assist humans more naturally.
According to the industry on the 16th, on the day Samsung Electronics unveiled the Galaxy S25 on the 23rd of last month, Demis Hassabis, the CEO of Google DeepMind, shared news related to this on his X account. Hassabis, who won the Nobel Prize in Chemistry last year, noted, "ASTK is our vision for a general-purpose AI assistant, and some features will soon be available through the Gemini app on Android and Samsung Galaxy S25." He added, "I am pleased to first introduce the capabilities of ASTK in collaboration with Samsung Mobile and Android, and more features are expected to be added in the coming months."
"ASTK" is an AI assistant project that Google unveiled last year, aimed at providing responses like a person in real life through multimodal AI. This project, led by DeepMind, is based on Gemini 2.0 and is primarily focused on the ability to respond naturally in real-time to questions related to text, video, audio, and text. For example, when a smartphone camera equipped with "ASTK" captures a washing label and asks, "How should I wash this garment?", the AI assistant would immediately instruct on washing methods through voice.
Currently, "ASTK" is being tested on Android smartphones, and Google is researching the operation of the AI assistant and ethical considerations based on feedback. Google announced plans to introduce "ASTK" not only on various Google products including the Gemini app, as well as Samsung Electronics smartphones, but also on form factors such as smart glasses.
It is still uncertain when users will be able to experience "ASTK" on Galaxy phones. However, since Hassabis mentioned the S25, which was announced earlier this year, there is a high possibility that it will be implemented within this year.
