Com2uS announced on the 13th that its consolidated revenue last year reached 692.7 billion won and operating profit achieved 6.6 billion won, marking a turnaround to profitability compared to the previous year.
Fourth-quarter revenue was 189.1 billion won, growing 17.9% year-on-year, while operating profit was 2.6 billion won, also marking a turnaround compared to the same period last year. On a separate basis, revenue last year was 557.3 billion won, and operating profit reached 24.2 billion won, representing growth of 1.7% and 17.9%, respectively, compared to the previous year.
Com2uS noted that the global momentum of its flagship title 'Summoners War: Sky Arena,' which marked its 10th anniversary last year, along with the success of its baseball game lineup based on official licenses from the Korea Baseball Organization (KBO) and Major League Baseball (MLB), which saw over 30% growth compared to the previous year, drove its performance.
Based on solid performance in the global market, the proportion of overseas revenue from its gaming business approached 70%, generating over 100 billion won in overseas revenue alone in the fourth quarter.
Com2uS plans to further strengthen its self-developed projects and expand its publishing business in 2025. It aims to tap into the global market with its development and publishing lineup while continuously improving existing successful titles to drive performance growth.
'Summoners War' has kicked off the year on a strong note with a collaboration on the January animation intellectual property (IP) 'Demon Slayer,' leading to a surge in major regional app market rankings. The new baseball game 'Pro Baseball RISING,' which synthesizes over 20 years of baseball game development know-how, will target the Japanese market in line with the opening of the season in March. Com2uS's baseball game lineup, which now covers the baseball game markets of Korea, the United States, and Japan, aims for double-digit growth this year, following significant growth last year.
The nurturing genre game 'Summoners War: Rush,' which was soft-launched in Thailand on the 12th, is also aiming for a global release in the first half of the year. Major MMORPG 'The Starlight,' developed by Game Tales, and casual crafting MORPG 'Project M' (working title) from AgeSoft are also set to enter the global market within the year.
Additionally, numerous projects in various genres are being prepared for the future gaming market, including the grand MMORPG 'Project ES' (working title) led by CEO Kim Dae-hwan from Ableton, the maiden cultivation simulation game 'Project MAIDEN' (working title) from VA Games, and a nurturing RPG based on the 'Destiny Child' IP developed by subsidiary Tikitaka Studio.
Meanwhile, Com2uS plans to enhance research and development in artificial intelligence (AI) this year to elevate game development and services. They aim to implement game-specialized responsive AI to increase the essential fun of game content, applying AI technologies in art, quality assurance, and other areas to ensure production efficiency and quality. Furthermore, AI technology will be applied to translations, voice, and other text-related aspects in the game, and an AI model for classifying user patterns will be used to enhance service operational stability.
