Garmin launched the all-in-one diving computer "Descent G2" equipped with a 1.2-inch AMOLED (active-matrix organic light-emitting diode) display on the 13th.
The Descent G2 features a large, clear 1.2-inch AMOLED display that allows users to easily view various data both on land and underwater. The housing, bezel, and buttons of the watch are made from 100% recycled marine plastic, making it sustainable and environmentally friendly. This robust material provides excellent durability in combination with a strong sapphire lens, a case boasting a 10 ATM (100-meter) diving rating, and leak-proof buttons.
The Descent G2 is equipped with various features that support all divers, including technical, free, and recreational divers, to explore underwater and surface environments clearly, as well as Garmin's popular functions related to health, fitness, and consolidation. In particular, the dive readiness feature helps assess how various lifestyle factors, such as sleep, stress, recent exercise, and time zone changes, affect diving readiness. A high readiness score indicates that the diver is in an ideal condition to start diving.
The Descent G2 supports both single and multi-gas rebreather (CCR) modes that extend no-decompression limit times, as well as gauge mode for recreational divers. It includes a three-axis diving compass for easy exploration below the water surface. The "large number mode," which simplifies essential data such as no-decompression limits (NDL), diving time, and water depth, provides convenience to divers with a large text display.
The dynamic pool apnea mode effectively tracks pool diving during freediving training, making it useful for free divers. Divers can focus solely on their training without the need to check the watch during dives, thanks to apnea diving-specific features like audio and vibration notifications for customized depth, intervals, direction, target depth, and neutral buoyancy. Additionally, the barometer feature provides audio and vibration alerts based on descent and ascent rates, allowing systematic training management through the Garmin Dive app.
Divers returning to land can review dive logs and record and share diving data and equipment status using the Garmin Dive app. With the surface GPS function, users can track entry and exit points and view them on a map.
The Descent G2 boasts excellent performance not only for diving but also for health and wellness monitoring and personalized training. It monitors heart rate 24 hours a day and tracks step count, calories burned, and stairs climbed, assisting in systematic health management. The sleep monitoring feature analyzes light sleep, deep sleep, and rapid eye movement (REM) sleep stages to provide insights on sleep quality and methods based on sleep scores. Analytic reports on heart rate variability (HRV) status, as well as data on stress, hydration, breathing, and blood oxygen saturation levels, allow users to check their overall health status.
The Descent G2 offers dozens of built-in sports apps, including cycling, open water, and strength training, allowing users to measure training performance such as exercise intensity, maximum oxygen consumption, heat and altitude adaptation, and recovery time. Garmin Coach training plans support personalized training tailored to users' conditions and recovery status. Users can check optimal training schedules through the weekly personalized workout recommendations that automatically update after running and cycling.
The Descent G2 is available in black and paloma shell pink, and it is compatible with QuickFit bands, allowing divers to easily change band colors. The battery lasts up to 10 days in smartwatch mode.
The Descent G2 connects to smartphones, allowing users to check emails, texts, and alarms directly, while the Garmin Connect app provides an overview of health and fitness data. It also supports safety features such as incident detection and LiveTrack. The Garmin Connect IQ store offers various watch faces, data fields, and apps available for free download, enabling customized watch displays.

The Descent G2 is available for purchase at the Garmin Korea official online store and nationwide Garmin brand shops, with a suggested retail price of 1,039,000 won.
