LG CNS announced on the 13th that it has signed a memorandum of understanding with Dell Technologies to cooperate in the AI infrastructure business and is working to expand the domestic and international AI business ecosystem.
Recently, LG CNS signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) for AI infrastructure collaboration with Dell Technologies at its Magok headquarters. Dell Technologies is a global corporation leading the AI infrastructure field.
To utilize AI, corporations require three essential elements: hardware for processing data, such as servers and storage; software to control this hardware; and AI applications to execute AI services. The AI infrastructure business is the area responsible for building the hardware and controlling software. The core is to equip the necessary infrastructure for using AI, including AI-optimized servers equipped with high-performance graphics processing units (GPUs), large-scale storage, networks, GPU virtualization software, and AI data centers.
Through this MOU, LG CNS aims to strengthen its AI infrastructure technology capabilities and participate as a Korean AX partner in the open ecosystem of the "Dell AI Factory," laying the groundwork for domestic and international customers' AI transformation (AX).
The Dell AI Factory supports various AI use cases in an open ecosystem format by combining the high-performance graphics processing units from partner companies with Dell's servers, storage, client devices, software, and services, required for implementing AI services.
The two companies plan to lead corporations' AX by combining the core capabilities of Dell Technologies' solutions and LG CNS's AI infrastructure construction capabilities. They will form an AI infrastructure consortium to carry out a joint AI infrastructure business and continue a sustainable technological exchange. Additionally, LG CNS plans to train experts in AI infrastructure facilities and solutions, including the Dell AI Factory, through Dell Technologies' AI infrastructure training program.
In the future, the two companies plan to gradually expand the scope of collaboration into the AI solutions and services field based on the success of the AI infrastructure business. In particular, they will actively discuss ways to combine LG CNS's generative AI technology "DAP GenAI Platform" and the super-large AI "EXAONE" from the LG Research Institute with the Dell AI Factory.
In line with the growth of its AI business, LG CNS is also expanding investments in AI infrastructure alongside the AI application area. Since 2022, it has been operating a technology organization for the advanced hardware infrastructure business, including high-performance computing (HPC), successfully providing stable supply and construction services for AI infrastructure.
Hyun Shin-kyun, CEO of LG CNS, noted, "Starting in 2025, we will fully initiate customer value innovation through generative AI across various industrial sectors such as finance, manufacturing, distribution, and telecommunications," and added, "AI infrastructure is a crucial foundation for this, and we will focus on securing the strongest technological capabilities through close cooperation with global leading corporation Dell Technologies."
