LG Electronics announced on the 13th that it was selected as the 'top 1%' corresponding to the highest rating for two consecutive years in the 'Corporate Sustainability Assessment (CSA)' published by the global credit rating agency S&P Global.
S&P Global classifies corporations that received excellent evaluations based on the CSA, which combines analyses of various ESG (environmental, social, governance) areas, into the top 1%, 5%, and 10% by industry. This evaluation was conducted on 7,690 corporations across 62 industries.
LG Electronics achieved the highest score of 77 among corporations in the 'home appliances and leisure products' industry this year. Among all evaluated corporations, 66 received top 1% ratings by industry, with only three domestic corporations, including LG Electronics, earning the top 1% evaluation.
LG Electronics noted that being listed as a top 1% corporation for two consecutive years reflects its recognition as a leader in global ESG management practices. The CSA evaluation results are also used as indicators for investors in the capital market to gauge the level of corporate sustainable management and to make decisions about social responsibility investments.
LG Electronics stated that it received industry-leading scores in various areas of this evaluation, recognizing its efforts and achievements in sustainable management. In environmental evaluations, it excelled in waste and pollutant management, energy use, and climate strategy, while in social evaluations, it received high marks for human rights, supply chain management, and customer relations. In governance evaluations, it scored well in transparency and reporting.
Under the vision of 'A better life for everyone,' LG Electronics is implementing various activities by establishing six key strategies, including 3C (carbon neutrality, resource circulation, eco-friendly technologies) for the planet and 3D (safe business sites, diversity and inclusiveness, accessibility of products and services) for people.
Hong Seong-min, head of ESG strategy at LG Electronics, said, 'As a member of global corporate citizenship, we plan to fulfill our responsibilities and roles in various areas such as the economy, environment, and society, and create a future of mutual growth.'
