Kakao Entertainment announced on Nov. 11 that it will present the large-scale original musical 'Siren,' based on the hit intellectual property (IP) that has recorded a total of 220 million views.
'Siren' is a popular webtoon based on a KakaoPage web novel, featuring the 'siren,' a monster that enthralls people with song, and the 'Duke Valentine,' who sold his soul to a devil, encapsulating a romantic fantasy of rescuing each other across time.
This musical is planned and produced by Kakao Entertainment's production company, Shownote, and will be unveiled for the first time in the world at the Chungmu Art Center in April 2026. Kim Sol-ji and Lee Seong-jun will be responsible for the playwriting and composition, while director Park So-young and choreographer Lee Hyun-jeong will participate to implement the original's beautiful and mysterious charm on stage.
The musical 'Siren' was planned as part of Kakao Entertainment's IP value chain strategy, and it is expected to produce high synergy by combining Shownote's production capabilities and Kakao Entertainment's original IP.
A Kakao Entertainment official noted, 'The musical 'Siren' is a stage born from the meeting of the artistry of original IP and the commercial success, combined with the best creative team and the production know-how of Shownote.' They added, 'We will continue to expand the IP into various formats.'
