LG Electronics announced on the 11th that it will deliver welcome gifts such as laptops and stationery sets to employees with children starting elementary, middle, and high school early next month.
Employees of LG Electronics can apply for a laptop once for each child at the time of their admission. This year, around 3,000 children born in 2018 (elementary school), 2012 (middle school), and 2009 (high school) will receive gifts.
Considering the diverse learning environments for children, LG Electronics has added the 'LG Stanbyme 2' to its options this year, in addition to the LG Gram laptop. Employees who choose the LG Stanbyme 2 will receive a dedicated speaker and wireless earphones.
The LG Stanbyme 2 is a sequel that showcases the 'wireless mobile lifestyle screen' genre, following the LG Stanbyme, which was introduced four years ago. It allows for easy disconnection of the screen and stand with the press of a button, without complicated processes such as unscrewing. With dedicated accessories, it can be placed on desks and tables like a tablet PC or hung on a wall like a picture frame to enjoy content.
In addition to laptops and the Stanbyme, LG Electronics will also deliver additional elementary school admission gifts, such as stationery sets and sportswear, to over 1,500 employees with children starting elementary school. CEO Joosungwan will send a congratulatory letter containing messages such as, 'If you listen well to your teachers and get along with your friends, school life will be exciting and fun,' and 'I hope you cultivate pretty dreams and live healthily and brightly at school.'
The elementary school admission gifts are a representative welfare program operated by LG Electronics as part of the 'lifecycle custom gift' initiative, along with gifts for the college entrance exam. Since 2014, more than 24,000 employees' children have received elementary school admission gifts.
Meanwhile, LG Electronics is actively operating various support systems to help employees in childbirth and childcare balance work and family. Since 2022, it has guaranteed a childcare leave period of up to two years, which is an expansion compared to the legal period, and also operates a 'childcare working hour reduction system' that allows for reduced working hours from one hour to a maximum of five hours a day.
