Samsung Electronics will donate $1 million (approximately 1.45 billion won) worth of electronic products to support local communities affected by the large wildfire that occurred in Los Angeles, California.
According to Samsung Electronics' U.S. newsroom on the 7th, Samsung Electronics' U.S. branch and Samsung Semiconductor will begin this support through strategic partnerships with Habitat for Humanity of Greater Los Angeles, Team Rubicon, and the Los Angeles Unified School District Education Foundation.
Samsung Electronics plans to provide home appliances focused on low-income households and support students and teachers with PCs and tablet devices. Advanced communication devices will also be provided to volunteers engaged in on-site recovery efforts.
The two wildfires that broke out on the western beaches and eastern inland areas of LA on the 7th of last month were not contained until the 20th day. At least 28 people died and 22 were reported missing due to these wildfires, resulting in the loss of numerous dwellings and displacing hundreds of thousands of people.
