SK hynix announced on the 6th that it has become the first in the memory industry to obtain the TISAX global automotive industry information security certification.

TISAX is a global information security certification system operated by the European Network Exchange (ENX), based on evaluation criteria established by the German Association of the Automotive Industry (VDA). It aims to standardize information security among corporations within the automotive supply chain.

SK hynix stated, "All domestic business sites located in Icheon, Bundang, and Cheongju, North Chungcheong Province, have received TISAX certification, internationally recognizing our security capabilities as required by the global automotive industry," adding, "We will accelerate the development of high-performance memory solutions essential for implementing AI-based future automotive technologies."

The global automotive industry is rapidly increasing the significance of electronic components (automotive electrical and electronic equipment) due to the expansion of the electric vehicle market, advancements in autonomous driving, and connected car technologies. In tandem with these changes, automotive semiconductors are applied in safety systems like Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), brake systems, and engine control, demanding a higher level of reliability than general semiconductors. Recently, hacking and malware attacks targeting vehicles have also increased, emphasizing not only the performance of semiconductors themselves but also systematic security management during the manufacturing process.

In this regard, SK hynix explained that it has secured the TISAX certification, which global automakers consider a prerequisite, after verification by a specialized institution. SK hynix anticipates that sharing the results of this certification with several partner corporations will help minimize duplicate expenses and aid in promoting long-term business efforts with them.

Kim Jong-hwan, vice president in charge of DRAM development at SK hynix, noted, "This certification will help strengthen cooperation with global automotive manufacturers and major component suppliers," and added, "Based on a thorough security system, we will build trust with customers and lead the next-generation automotive memory semiconductor market."
