GBike, which operates the personal mobility (PM) sharing service platform 'GCOO,' announced on the 6th that it signed a business agreement with the Army's 2291st unit located in Incheon on the 4th to utilize PM for military operations and training.
This agreement is the second collaboration case with a military unit after GBike's successful partnership with the 1970th unit of the Army last year. Notably, this time, the scope of cooperation has been significantly expanded at the division level, focusing on enhancing military operations and civil-military collaboration. The signing ceremony was held in the unit's conference room, attended by Major General Lee Kwang-seop of the 2291st unit, CEO Yoon Jong-soo of GCOO, and Strategic Officer Jeong Gu-seong.
Through this agreement, GBike will provide mobility equipment such as electric bicycles and electric scooters that can be used during major military training, including in extreme cold conditions and actual operations. The objective is to enhance rapid deployment and mobility in operational areas, allowing for efficient responses even in densely populated areas where vehicle entry is difficult.
This agreement is expected to maximize operational efficiency in the areas by overcoming local constraints such as large crowds and narrow alleyways, utilizing the advantages of GCOO's mobility equipment, which can maneuver swiftly in difficult terrains. This innovative approach will aid in training for new-generation service members' readiness for modern urban operations.
Major General Lee Kwang-seop of the 2291st unit noted, 'This agreement will serve as an opportunity for the division to enhance operational capabilities suited to urban operational environments.' He added, 'Utilizing electric bicycles and electric scooters as mobility means in urban areas will strengthen our operational capabilities.'
GBike CEO Yoon Jong-soo stated, 'I feel proud to support national security and public safety through large-scale collaboration at the division level,' and expressed hope that training using personal mobility devices will contribute to new-generation service members enhancing their ability to respond to urban operations in a modern way. He also mentioned that GBike will do its best to safeguard community and national safety through close cooperation with the military in the future.
