Team Naver announced on the 4th that it would participate in the global IT exhibition 'LEAP 2025,' known as the 'Saudi version of CES,' showcasing its data center-cloud infrastructure-AI model and an AI that best understands Saudi Arabia's unique culture and language.
Last year, Team Naver participated in LEAP 2024, establishing a foothold in the Middle East market by signing memorandums of understanding with Aramco Digital and Saudi Public Transport Company (SAPTCO). This year, taking a step further, it will participate under the theme 'AI for Saudi Arabia, Powered by NAVER,' introducing an AI value chain that can only be realized by Team Naver through data center-consolidation-AI.
First, through a presentation titled 'Naver AI value chain preserving digital heritage,' the importance of developing sovereign AI that preserves a country's culture and identity will be emphasized. It will mention the possibility of poorly trained AI introducing Saudi Arabia's unique coffee as a common drink in the Middle East or misrecognizing Saudi cultural heritage site 'Madain Salih' as Jordan's 'Petra,' and based on its experience developing the world's third country-specific language model, it will present the direction of AI development respecting Saudi's linguistic and cultural characteristics.
Alongside this, it will demonstrate AI services that have been launched domestically or are preparing for commercialization as practical examples of the AI value chain. This includes an AI tutor providing customized learning and real-time feedback, AI voice electronic medical records (EMR) that automatically convert conversations with patients into text-based documentation to help medical personnel focus on treatment, media AI that automates scene searches in videos, and the collaborative work tool Naver Works, powered by HyperclovaX, enhancing work efficiency through tasks like writing emails, summarization, and translation. This plan aims to present localization possibilities in Saudi Arabia across four fields: education, healthcare, media, and productivity.
Additionally, the core infrastructure of Team Naver's AI value chain will be exhibited in physical models. It will showcase servers, uninterruptible power supplies (UPS), emergency generators, air conditioning systems, and robots 'Garo' from its world-class environmentally friendly data center 'Gak,' introducing its proprietary data center operational system, along with the hybrid cloud service 'NeuroCloud' and a digital space that intricately implements the city of Medina as a digital twin.
Kim Yu-won, CEO of Naver Cloud, noted, 'Team Naver has been participating consecutively in major Saudi exhibitions such as LEAP and Cityscape, showcasing our unique technological capabilities and strengthening local collaborations.' He added, 'In the future, we will further strengthen our position in the global market with technology that respects the culture and identity of each country.'
'LEAP 2025' is the largest technology exhibition in the Middle East, organized by the Saudi Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT), which will be held in Riyadh from February 9 to 12 (local time). This year, more than 680 startups, 1,000 speakers, and 1,800 technology brands are expected to participate.
