The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Korea Creative Content Agency (hereinafter referred to as the Korea Creative Content Agency) announced on the 3rd that they will recruit corporations and prospective entrepreneurs to participate in the '2025 Indie Game Support Project' until the 20th.
The Indie Game Support Project, renamed from the existing game planning support project, aims to enhance the development of Korea's gaming industry and secure ecological diversity by supporting the entire process of indie game production, consulting, exhibition participation, networking, and more. This year, a total of 3.5 billion won will be allocated to recruit about 53 projects across four institutional sectors: prospective entrepreneurs, startups-corporations, startups-individuals, and growth corporations.
This year's project will be operated in a public-private partnership based on the 'Indie Game Support System Establishment Agreement' signed by the Korea Creative Content Agency with NEOWIZ, Smilegate Megaport, Pearl Abyss, and others in December last year. The Korea Creative Content Agency and leading gaming corporations will collaborate on building partnerships with indie game corporations, and planning and operating support programs.
Starting this year, the 'growth corporations' sector was newly established to support indie game corporations that have been in operation for more than three years but less than seven years, thereby strengthening tailored support. In addition to development support costs, mentoring, domestic and international exhibition participation, and showcases, new support items such as partnerships between leading corporations and indie game developers, and joint seminar support have been added. There are plans to provide additional funding to projects that achieve excellent results during mid-term evaluations.
The Korea Creative Content Agency will hold an offline business briefing at the Gwanghwamun CKL Business Support Center on the 14th to provide information on the project details and application procedures. Participation applications can be confirmed on the Korea Creative Content Agency's website.
Yu Hyun-seok, acting director of the Korea Creative Content Agency, noted, "We will actively support the continuous growth and global expansion of indie game developers through collaboration with leading gaming corporations."
