Kakao Enterprise announced on the 3rd that it has appointed Lee Won-joo, the representative of its affiliate DK Tech, as the new CEO.
The appointed Lee is expected to be officially confirmed during the regular shareholders' meeting in March and will concurrently serve as CEO of both Kakao Enterprise and DK Tech.
A former software engineer, Lee joined Kakao in 2008 and was appointed as the head of DK Tech in 2015, leading the company for over 10 years. He has particularly built extensive experience and expertise in the field of business-to-business (B2B) IT and artificial intelligence (AI) infrastructure, driving the continuous growth of DK Tech.
Under Lee's leadership, DK Tech expanded its business portfolio last January by merging with Kakao Enterprise's subsidiary "Kakao IP." He successfully established six core businesses of Kakao IP, including "Kakao Work" and "Kakao i," proving his capabilities as a technology manager.
Lee stated, "Kakao Enterprise and DK Tech are already collaborating closely in various fields," adding, "We will maximize the technological prowess and business synergy of both companies to play a key role in propelling the Kakao Group to become an 'AI-native company.'"
