LG Electronics announced on the 2nd that it will officially launch the 'LG StanbyME 2' in the domestic market.
The LG StanbyME 2 (model name 27LX6) is a new product introduced four years after the company released the 'LG StanbyME.' It is scheduled for official launch on the 21st, with a basic configuration including a moving wheel priced at 1.29 million won. Starting with a live broadcast on the LG Electronics online brand shop at 8 p.m. on the 5th, pre-orders will be conducted until the 18th.
LG Electronics noted that it designed the LG StanbyME 2 by reflecting customer requests from the product planning stage, enhancing its advantages while addressing its disadvantages.
The LG StanbyME 2 allows for easy separation of the screen from the stand with a single button. The battery that was built into the stand can be moved to the screen for separate use, and convenient charging is possible through the USB-C port on the screen.
Using a dedicated accessory to stand the separated screen allows it to be placed on desks and tables like a tablet PC, enabling users to enjoy content. By combining a strap accessory and wall mount holder, it can be hung on the wall and used as a picture frame or wall clock.
Customer feedback regarding better picture quality and longer usage time has also been incorporated. The StanbyME 2 features a 27-inch QHD (2560X1440) resolution display, offering improved picture quality compared to the previous product (FHD display). It is also equipped with a high-capacity built-in battery, allowing up to 4 hours of use without power connection.
The new product is equipped with the AI processor Alpha 8 second generation for picture and sound quality. The AI analyzes and corrects video and sound to deliver optimized visuals and surround sound for the content. The new product has speakers located on the side of the screen, providing clearer sound than the rear speakers of the previous model.
Additionally, it supports Dolby Vision for video technology and Dolby Atmos for spatial sound technology, providing an immersive viewing experience. It can also be used with the separately sold 'StanbyME Speaker.'
The LG StanbyME 2 is equipped with a proprietary smart TV platform webOS. It allows users to enjoy OTT and cloud gaming, as well as rotate the screen vertically to view webtoons and short-form content. Various themed clocks, calendars, posters, and even personally drawn images can be displayed as wallpaper to serve as decorative objects when hung on the wall.
The company explained that it has also enhanced customer convenience. Through the far-field voice recognition feature, saying, 'Hi LG, tell me the sports game results,' or 'Increase the volume,' activates the built-in microphone for operation.
When connected to information technology (IT) devices via the USB-C port, data transmission and screen sharing are also possible. The power adapter is built into the bottom of the stand, keeping the installation area tidy. The included magnetic remote control can be attached to the top of the product for convenient storage. It is also compatible with the LG Smart TV AI remote control.
The LG StanbyME 2 recently received top awards from major IT media outlets such as TechRadar, Home Theater Review, and PCWorld at CES 2025.
