On the 31st, Samsung Electronics said during a conference call for the 2024 fourth-quarter earnings announcement, 'it is anticipated that even server-based DDR5 and SSD, which had previously shown relatively stable price trends, will see a price decline in the first quarter, but demand for memory is expected to begin to recover from the second quarter.'
Samsung Electronics noted, 'Demand for mobile and PC applications is expected to improve with the full-scale launch of new products equipped with on-device AI functionality after customer inventory adjustments are completed following the first quarter.' It added, 'As investments in AI infrastructure continue within the industry, fundamental demand remains solid; thus, with improvements in GPU supply, the delayed challenges faced by data center customers are expected to materialize late, with demand recovering primarily for high-performance and high-capacity products.'
However, it stated, 'Given that macroeconomic trends, semiconductor export controls, and geopolitical issues, along with the schedule for new GPU releases, are broadly affecting the memory market, continuous monitoring of various market variables will be necessary.'
