Daum has seen a surge in users following a complete overhaul of its mobile application.
According to mobile index data from AIGIWORX on the 26th, the number of Daum users increased by 547,811, totaling 5,944,576 users during the first week immediately following the app's revamp from the 13th to the 19th. The user growth rate recorded was 10.15%.
This marks the second highest growth rate among all apps, following the National Tax Service's HomeTax, which peaks in demand during the year-end tax settlement season. HomeTax recorded an increase of 1,097,252 users during the same period, with a growth rate of 74.04%.
Previously, Kakao announced a new brand logo that combines its existing four brand colors—red, blue, yellow, and others—on the 13th and implemented a complete overhaul of the application after nine years.
In particular, it improved user accessibility by introducing lower tabs and placing four tabs for home, content, community, and shopping.
Daum plans to conduct phased updates for user optimization, including strengthening AI-based personalized services and establishing a new 'short-form' tab at the bottom this year.
Daum once built a solid stronghold that could rival Naver in the domestic portal market, but it has recently struggled, with its market share hovering around 10%.
